The Times Center is sold as a full-venue rental including three distinct spaces — The Stage, The Hall and The Lobbies. Rental rates are set by the hour, based on a minimum of six hours of time.
The Times Center sales manager will create a custom quote for the event. The quote will include estimate costs for the following:
- Venue Rental
- Staffing (Technicians, Front of House, Security)
- A/V Rentals
- Janitorial/Maintenance
Any outsourced equipment rentals, additional labor, cleaning services, loading dock fees, etc., will be billed back to the Client.

The Times Center is a state-of-the-art technical facility. Though The Times Center has an extensive technical inventory that will fulfill the needs of most events, additional equipment may be rented from an approved Times Center A/V provider. After booking an event, companies must coordinate with The Times Center production manager to arrange and satisfy their technical needs and requirements.

The Times Center is an ideal location for your catered event. The Hall has a catering staging area for banquets or receptions of any size, and refreshments can be set up for events throughout the venue (note that only bottled water is allowed in The Stage’s seating area). The Times Center provides catering services through a group of approved and reputable food service companies that have gone through a competitive selection process. Companies wishing to have food and beverage services must enter into a separate agreement with one of the approved caterers listed at the left.

According to established fire code, the capacities are as follows: The Stage: 378 people, no standing room permitted. The Hall: Maximum 390 people, dependent upon the nature of the event. Lobby Spaces: Dependent upon the nature of the event.
Rental of The Stage includes use of our Greenroom suite comprised of an 8' x 10' dressing room, one 8' x 10' workroom, private restroom and an 11'9" x 18'4" lounge located adjacent to stage left. The space is A.D.A. compliant, and amenities include lounge seating for 12, wet bar kitchenette, magnetic/dry-erase surface walls, two video monitors with audio and video playback from the stage, program countdown clock, charging ports and phone lines.
Social distancing measures
- Guests and staff must practice social distancing by maintaining six feet of separation at all times.
Mask-wearing policies
- We no longer require masks; however, they are still encouraged.
Extra sanitation
- Staff are doing hourly rounds to sanitize high-touch surfaces (railings, desks, bathrooms, etc.). Shared technical equipment is sanitized before and after each use. Additional hand-sanitizing stations have been installed throughout the venue.
HVAC System
- Increased outside air ventilation and increased air filtration efficiency. Minimized HVAC system downtime to enhance positive impact of ventilation. Disinfected water storage tanks, flushed and cleaned systems.
Limited capacity
- In accordance with New York City Health Department and CDC recommendations, The Times Center is available as a soundstage and hybrid event venue at a limited capacity. Check with timescenter@nytimes.com for the current capacity and health and safety regulations.
Yes, site visits are still available and should be arranged in advance. Prior to arriving at The Times Center, you will be asked to:
- Take your temperature. Should your temperature be over 100.4 Fahrenheit, you are required to stay at home.
- Wear face coverings. Note that while anywhere in The Times Center, and when within six feet of anyone else, face coverings are mandatory.
All visitors and staff are required to self-monitor their temperature prior to arriving at The Times Center.
Yes. At no time and under no circumstances may users or their vendors block any fire doors, emergency exits or venue entrances.
In addition, users of The Times Center and their subcontractors are required to comply with all requirements of state and federal regulations, as well as ordinances and regulations of the City and County of New York, including Safety and Health, Fire and Life Safety and all other applicable laws.
Events may be subject to cancellation for noncompliance with codes.

All Times Center users are required to use Times Center technicians.
The Times Center front-of-house staff, comprised of house managers and ushers, are hired and managed by The Times Center based on the scope and needs of each event. They facilitate guest way-finding, seating, coat check; oversee catering, security, custodial and facility operations; as well as monitor the safety and well-being of all persons in The Times Center.
Front-of-house staffing levels will be determined by Times Center management on a per-event basis. All costs associated with these services will be included in the user’s invoice.
All Times Center users are required to use Times Center front-of-house staff.
Basic security and custodial charges are included in all Times Center rental agreement invoices. As determined solely by Times Center management, however, extraordinary security needs or cleaning service needs will result in additional charges to the user.

All alcoholic beverage services require approval by Times Center management and must be served by an approved Times Center caterer. Any donated alcohol must be coordinated directly with the caterer at their discretion and may incur related charges.
Yes. In fact, users MUST participate in a pre-event walk-through with their caterer and Times Center staff at least five business days prior to the event.
Catering setup and break-down times must be included within the user’s rental block as defined in the License Term of their rental agreement. Any early access to the venue OR late exit from the venue that is outside of the user’s License Term will result in additional TimesCenter staff and rental fees.
No. All Times Center users are responsible for promoting and publicizing their own events.
Absolutely. All branding and signage to be hung in The Stage must be done by Times Center technical staff. All graphics and branding installations must be approved in advance by Times Center production staff.
A coat and bag checkroom is available for Times Center events as requested by the user. The checkroom is staffed by Times Center house managers and accepts coats, umbrellas and other handheld items such as backpacks and small carry-on bags. Note that no food/beverage, personal transportation devices (folding bikes, skateboards, etc.), loose footwear or other unsanitary items will be accepted in the checkroom.
Yes. There are three important things to note:
- Pursuant to New York City ordinances, The Times Center is a nonsmoking venue.
- Other than bottled water, no food or beverages are allowed in The Stage.
- All TimesCenter facilities shall be restored to conditions found prior to use.
At The Times Center, there shall be no discrimination against, nor segregation of, any person or group of persons on account of race, color, religion or creed, national origin or ancestry, sex, gender identity or sexual orientation, age, marital or domestic partner status, political affiliation or disability (including HIV or AIDS status) in the use or licensing of The Times Center facilities, nor shall the user or any person claiming under or through the user, establish or permit any such practice or practices of discrimination or segregation with reference to the selection, location, number, use or occupancy of user, patrons, lessees or vendees of The Times Center’s facilities or any parts thereof.
